Part 1 - Advice from Industry Experts
Have you heard the term Skin-vestment? Well, skincare is probably the most underrated form of investment when it comes to ‘splurging’ on quality skincare products. Like everything, it takes time to see results. But to see good results, you need to invest in your skin with quality products. It’s never too late to start investing in good skincare and maintaining a routine for it. You don’t have to have a bunch of products with variants and alternatives to get smooth, glowing skin. All you need to be equipped with is the right knowledge of ingredients, and understand the ‘layering’ of skincare products.
Must-have skincare ingredients
Here’s a list of some of our favourite ingredients and why we love them!
Niacinamide – Proven to retain the moisture in the skin and keep it hydrated.
Salicylic acid – Reduces sebum secretion, inflammation and clears clogged pores thus preventing breakouts. It is recommended to use products with 0.5 – 2% of salicylic acid.
Hyaluronic acid – Helps protect moisture in the skin and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
Ceramides – It promotes anti-aging by rejuvenating skin’s appearance and protecting skin’s barrier.
Vitamin C – Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) helps in formation of collagen, growth and development of body tissues and thickens skin to reduce fine lines.
SPF in sunscreen – Invest in a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to prolong UV radiation to enter the skin
If you’re just starting out by looking at skincare products, looking at the ingredients is the best way to get started! And although you might be overwhelmed with the options, perhaps the best way to get started is understanding what are your skin concerns and what are the ingredients needed to cure that concern.
In conclusion, It doesn’t matter what products you use as long as you carry the right knowledge of those products and what it will do for your skin. Before investing, always make sure to have a right combination of ingredients and a sustainable brand to back it up. And remember, good things (including seeing results on your skin!) takes time.
